Mother walking her 10-year-old daughter across a street is killed by hit and run driver. Suspect was later arrested.

On June 19, 2016 at approximately 6:39 PM, Covina Police Officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run investigation in the 1100 block of W. San Bernardino Road. Upon arriving, officers located two victims in the street that had been struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on San Bernardino Road as they were crossing the street. The adult suffered critical injuries and the juvenile suffered moderate injuries. Both victims were transported to a local trauma center where the adult victim later succumbed to her injuries.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that after the suspect vehicle struck the victims, the vehicle continued westbound on San Bernardino, failing to stop to render aid to the victims. The suspect vehicle is described as a brown Nissan Altima.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, Jose Higareda, a 50-year-old resident of Irwindale, later turned himself in at the Covina Police Department at the encouragement of his wife and child who were passengers in his vehicle when he struck the two victims.

Mr. Higareda was arrested on the felony charge of VC 20001 – (Hit and Run with Injuries) and is being housed at the Covina Police Department on $50,000 bail pending his arraignment at Citrus Superior Court on June 21, 2016.

Any information or questions regarding this crime, please contact the Covina Police Department Traffic Division (626) 384-5675, the Watch Commander (626) 384-5665 or Crime Stoppers (800) 222-TIPS(8477). Refer to Covina PD case # 16-17569.

Check Out Midget Loco

We got an old school throwback picture of UKMG Artist Midget Loco. He was just out of high school, and living by the code of the street. When I seen this picture, I thought of his first album, “Bloodline Flatline“, which is one of my favorite Cds by Midget. With songs like “The Loco And The Loca” featuring UKMG Artist Ms Krazie, “Cant Complain” featuring UKMG Artists Chino Grande and Fiesty 2 Guns, and “Life Of A Come Up” featuring Chino Grande and Troub Nasty.

First Loco At The Street By Midget Loco

Who remembers this mixtape by UKMG Artist Midget Loco? It was called “First Loco At The Street” and it was one of the first mixtapes Urban Kings has released. Midget got to rap over many different beats, and I think he killed the CD. The album featured UKMG Artists Chino Grande and Fiesty 2 Guns along with Gang Starr, Macy Gray and Mos Def. This is a really good mixtape that features 19 tracks. Midget was able to rap every style he wanted, and it worked over some hard grimey gangster beats. This is a classic tape that did not go in stores and tracks were limited on the iTunes release, since it is mixtape beats. If you haven’t heard the album, you can watch the music video of one of the singles below, called “Summer Season” and featured Lil Blue and Chino Grande, with production from D Salas. The video was directed by Echosworld.
